- Check that the policy is issued by one of the companies above — the licensed entity, not only the brand.
- For motor cover, check a motor sticker by USSD (MTN *165*4*5*5#, Airtel *185*7*6*1#).
- Ask for the schedule and the exclusions in writing, and compare them with at least one other insurer.
- Keep in mind the claim rule that applies to every insurer: IRA's claims guide gives 10 working days to pay after the signed discharge for claims up to UGX 10 million (15 up to 50 million, 20 above).
- If something goes wrong, complain to the insurer, then to IRA's online Complaints Bureau (iracomplaints.go.ug).
