What Jubilee sells in Uganda
We read Jubilee Uganda's own product pages in October 2026. What follows is Jubilee's description of its products, not a rating. IRA's list of licensed companies names one Jubilee company in Uganda, Jubilee Life Insurance Company of Uganda (life insurers); ask which company underwrites a policy before you sign, because that is the company named on the contract.
| Cover | Who it is for | What Jubilee's page says |
|---|---|---|
| J-Care Individual/Family | Individuals and families, from birth to age 60 | 5 levels of cover, inpatient up to Ush 150 million on the top plan; outpatient, maternity, dental, optical, last expense and pre-existing conditions listed as benefits |
| J-Care Junior | Children aged 0 to 17, without the parents | Inpatient, outpatient, immunisation, annual check-ups, telemedicine; dental and optical optional |
| J-Senior | Older people (see the age note below) | 5 plans; newly diagnosed chronic and pre-existing conditions, hospice and home nursing, drug delivery for chronic illness |
| J-Armor | Adults aged 18 to 60 holding a Jubilee life policy | Inpatient only, sold as a rider to Jubilee's life products; Bronze, Silver or Gold; premiums printed (next section) |
| Small Businesses Health Cover | Employers, up to 50 members | Inpatient and outpatient, pre-existing and chronic conditions, post-hospitalisation and funeral expense benefits |
| Corporate Health Cover | Larger employers | Adds overseas referrals, local road and air evacuation and critical illness cover |
Jubilee's licensed company, the regulator's figures and its complaint count are on our Jubilee profile.
What it costs: the J-Armor premiums Jubilee publishes
J-Armor is the only Jubilee medical cover in Uganda with a price list on its product page (checked October 2026). It pays hospital bills only — no outpatient visits — for accidents, illness or disease during the year, and premiums are paid once a year. Inpatient limit per year: UGX 7,500,000 (Bronze), UGX 15,000,000 (Silver), UGX 30,000,000 (Gold). Yearly premium per person, in Uganda shillings:
| Age | Bronze | Silver | Gold |
|---|---|---|---|
| 18 to 30 | 178,065 | 191,366 | 205,998 |
| 31 to 40 | 231,488 | 250,131 | 270,639 |
| 41 to 50 | 514,046 | 560,946 | 612,535 |
| 51 to 60 | 560,946 | 612,535 | 669,284 |
Two things the table shows: the premium more than doubles between the 31 to 40 and 41 to 50 age bands, and J-Armor is a rider, so you must first hold one of Jubilee's life products to buy it.
Waiting periods and what to check before you sign
Jubilee's health FAQ, repeated on each product page, sets these rules:
- You can use the cover within 30 days of receiving your membership card, according to the FAQ.
- One-year waiting period for some conditions, which the FAQ names as diabetes, heart conditions, hypertension, cancer and HIV, among others.
- CT scans, MRIs and dialysis: also a one-year waiting period, so they are available from the second year of cover.
- Chronic conditions are covered only if your policy document states it clearly.
These are summaries from a web page, not policy terms. The policy document decides; ask for it before paying, and declare every existing condition on the application form.
How a Jubilee medical claim works in Uganda
With a Jubilee card, you are treated at a provider on Jubilee's panel; the J-Care page speaks of a regional network of over 200 hospitals and healthcare professionals, but no provider list is published on the product pages (checked October 2026), so ask Jubilee for the panel that goes with your plan. When you pay yourself, the reimbursement guidelines apply:
- When reimbursement is possible: an emergency, no accredited Jubilee provider nearby, or a service no panel provider offers.
- Notify Jubilee in writing within 24 hours of emergency treatment; for anything else, get pre-authorisation before paying. A pre-authorisation is valid for 14 days.
- Send the documents: Jubilee's claim form filled in and signed by the doctor, the prescription and receipts for medicines, and for an admission the discharge summary, invoice and original receipt — through your HR department, by email (caremanagement@jubileeuganda.com or jhicu-reimbursement@jubileeuganda.com) or to the reimbursement officer.
- Respect the deadline: Jubilee considers no claim submitted more than 14 days after the illness or discharge, unless you justify the delay with evidence.
- Expect a partial refund: Jubilee reimburses 90% of reasonable and customary charges, vetted against panel providers' prices, within a maximum of 21 days for a fully documented claim — and only once premiums are fully paid.
For treatment abroad, Jubilee only takes liability for pre-authorised claims incurred within 42 days of the date of travel. Its claims lines are 0800211711 and 0312225000; the health hotline in the FAQ is +256 414311701. If a claim is refused and Jubilee's answer does not settle it, you can go to IRA: see how to complain about an insurer in Uganda.
Jubilee's life, savings and pension plans
Jubilee Life's pages describe several savings and protection plans. The figures below are Jubilee's own (October 2026):
- [Family Shield](https://jubileeinsurance.com/ug/product/family-shield/) — a funeral plan for up to 12 members (the policyholder and 11 relatives). Entry age 18 to 65, you and your spouse covered to 75, children to 18 (25 if full-time students), parents entering up to 85 and covered to 90. An optional saving of UGX 15,000 to UGX 150,000 a month earns a guaranteed return, per the FAQ.
- [Education Plus Plan](https://jubileeinsurance.com/ug/product/jubilee-education-plus-plan/) — saving over 5 to 20 years, minimum premium UGX 100,000 a month, minimum sum assured UGX 7 million to 10 million, maximum entry age 60. - [Career Life Plan](https://jubileeinsurance.com/ug/product/career-life-plan/) — another education policy, 5 to 20 years, with adult and child hospitalisation benefits up to UGX 2,500,000 each.
- [Kwanjula Plus Plan](https://jubileeinsurance.com/ug/product/jubilee-kwanjula-plus-plan/) — saving for an introduction ceremony, wedding and honeymoon: age 18 to 55, term 5 to 10 years, minimum sum assured UGX 10,000,000.
- [Personal Pension Plan](https://jubileeinsurance.com/ug/product/personal-pension-plan/) — a retirement fund with a guaranteed investment rate according to the page; minimum contribution UGX 1,200,000 for the first year (UGX 100,000 a month), payable by MTN, Airtel, cheque, standing order or cash.
Jubilee also lists a Money Back plan, J-Invest and J-Invest Plus, Smart Save, Venture and Wealth Protector plans, credit life, mortgage protection, group life and retirement schemes for employers. IRA's FAQ notes that some life insurers give a 30-day cooling-off period to cancel a new policy — a company practice, not a legal right, so ask Jubilee whether it applies to your plan. More on policy types and lapses in our life insurance guide.
How to buy a Jubilee cover, and compare it
- Choose the cover: an individual or family medical plan, a child or senior plan, a group cover for staff, or a life or savings plan.
- Ask Jubilee or a licensed agent or broker for a written quote: the premium and the period it covers, the benefit schedule, the hospital panel, every sub-limit and waiting period.
- Check which Jubilee company issues the policy and that it is on IRA's list.
- Pay and keep the card and policy document: waiting periods run from the start of cover.
